Visitors Welcome
It was sort of heartbreaking to hear from my sister today that Dad expressed surprise at not having many visitors today. He's not one to talk much about his feelings, and he's often content to be by himself, so I can't help but cry on his behalf as I imagine just how lonely this experience must be.
If you live within driving distance and your time allows, please pay my dad a visit. He would be so encouraged by your care for him, and it would break up his day of counting dots on the ceiling as he has mentioned he's sometimes prone to do. If you're too far away to visit but your heart is there, give him a call. He's able to use his phone just fine these days, and if he misses your call feel free to text him so that he remembers to call you back. I'm not sure how often he checks voicemails, but I do know it's not his habit to return calls from numbers he doesn't recognize. An identifying text and quick message would do the trick if you don't manage to catch him!
If you do plan to visit, give my mom or dad a call to make sure the timing is alright. He'll be going to more followup visits with his surgeons this week, so just check in before showing up. Feel free to comment on this blog or send me an email or Facebook message if you need my parents' phone numbers.

What is the best address to send a card? At the facility or your parents address?
